I know, I’m a little late to the party on this one. Only Murders in the Building, first released in 2021, is a drama crime thriller starring the trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. It’s currently been renewed for Season 4, and I am finally getting around to watching it.
The Annoyance of Too Many Streaming Services
Only Murders in the Building was first released onto Hulu, I believe. The only problem: I don’t have Hulu. With the rise of so many streaming services means there will likely be shows everyone tells you to watch, but you can’t. Unless you want to pay $100 a month for every single platform out there. But with a very handy Disney+ family account and the strategic use of a VPN, I have finished Season 1 of OMITB.
My New Favorite Crime Show
As you’ve probably gathered from my 2024 To Be Read list, I’m a big fan of True Crime. But if my other crime comfort show, Castle, is any indication, I am also a fan of fictional crime stories. OMITB is my new favorite show that has anything to do with murders.
Honestly I think this show is the perfect combination of comedy and drama. The chemistry between our three leads is amazing; I love the comedic timing of the Martins combined with the sarcastic deadpan acting from Gomez. The depiction and commentary of True Crime podcast audiences and the relationship between them, podcasters, and the police is hilarious. Not too much comedy to overwhelm the drama and murder, but just enough so it’s not Investigation Discovery. I’d listen to their podcast if it was real.
Onto Season 2 And Even More Murder
