I don’t know why anyone didn’t tell me this. I was just supposed to find out on my own that Castle is on Disney+? I have been waiting for a chance to rewatch this show that doesn’t include catching snippets on live T.V. during the very few chances I can.
My O.G. Crime Comfort Show
There are a million police procedural and crime-related sit-coms out there, but my go-to favorite is Castle. First airing in 2009 and ending in 2016, this mystery/drama show follows famed thriller author Richard Castle (played by Nathan Fillon) as he shadows New York City Police Detective Kate Beckett (played by Stana Katic). This is all in an effort to help Castle gain inspiration for this next novel.
This Goes About How You’re Expecting
Like most police procedurals, each episode of Castle follows the same general formatting. But all of the characters are easily likable and contribute to the overarching story. What starts off as a playful bickering between our two leads eventually turns into a friendship and then love, and the characters of Castle and Beckett work off of each other very well. This chemistry (and comedy) is partially due to the childlike wonder and excitement Castle has for figuring out the “who” in “whodunit” and Beckett’s frustration and being the realistic foil to his more “out there” theories. Together they make a great pair to lead the series with memorable side characters.
Give Castle A Chance
While I would say the show really hits its stride in Season 2, it’s fine to start with the pilot. If I remember correctly, there is some important plot-related information you get in the first season; while you could hit up Wikipedia for a summary before diving into the show itself, I’d say it’s worth it to start at the beginning.
