Salut et bienvenue, WordPress blog-o-sphere!
You haven’t heard from me for awhile so I thought I’d talk a little bit about the direction my life is going in right now!
Well as you could probably figure I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in journalism and media studies on Star Wars day this past May. College was an incredible experience for me and graduating made be that much more excited about my future.
It also allowed me to dive more into my hobbies.
These past few months I’ve spent my free time doing what you’d expect: sleeping in, relaxing, writing Thank You notes, enjoying coffee with foamy milk on top on my basement couch in my cozy pajamas. But this post-graduation honeymoon period has given me time to work on improving myself — I’ve been living in a more healthy way than I did when I was working on my degree; I’ve been teaching myself Morse code and French, writing poetry, spending time with good friends, practicing my singing skills. Even the Python software on my laptop has been getting some use.
That being said, I do have a confession: looking for a job wasn’t very easy. In fact, by the start of June the full weight of everything actually hit me: the fact that I’d never be in school again and had no idea what I was doing. The loneliness weighed on my very heavily. But, I do have good news:
I have accepted a multimedia journalist (what we in the industry call an MMJ) position with KNOP-TV in North Platte, Nebraska. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to put my skills into action and see what I want to do with my life; even the smallest things are so new to me — holding my own apartment key, commuting to work, making a budget, grocery shopping.
I’ll keep y’all updated as best I can while I work through the beginning of the rest of my life.
Au revoir!
