As we head into fall and October, and I start ordering all the pumpkin coffee drinks, I come to realize that we are at the final stretch of 2024. The final three months. This is the last chance for me to work on some of my most important goals for the year. I did a half-year check-in at the beginning of June of my overall 2024 goals and I thought about how to best refocus my energy then. But it’s time to really get serious and see what I can do to end the year strong.
My Half-Year 2024 Goal Check-In
My habit of spending too much time on YouTube has led me to a woman who has a very smart idea: making goals for different categories of your life so you focus on several different areas all at once. To be precise, there are six main categories: personal, professional, financial, community, self-care, and health/fitness. I wouldn’t say there were the main guidelines for my 2024 Goals but there are some similarities.
Back in June, during my Half-Year Check-In, I made a list of goals I am right on track with and should accomplish by December 31st no problem. But I also made a list of ones that need work, those including:
- Finishing Only Murders In The Building (this one is more of a fun goal, but I should stop putting it off)
- And, working more on my health/flexibility-related goals
My Main Focus For October Through December
Since I’m comfortable with where I am in my yearly financial and reading goals, my main focus for the last fourth of the year is on my health. It would be lovely to be able to reach my flexibility-related goals, and I still want to work on them, but those were more last-minute and not the main priority. What is the main priority is me trying to get a better handle on my health. Naturally this is difficult with the holiday foods coming up, but if my recent blood tests are any indication, I’m headed in a good direction and should try to keep it through into 2025.
I want to continue to have a better diet and limit my alcohol and soda intake (even the less sugary ones). I also want to continue to reach 5,000 steps a day (or close to it) as best I can by taking walks after work; I’m still trying to get my exercise in every week but counting steps has also helped add to the good progress. I don’t want to discourage myself by not acknowledging the work I’ve put in since April/June (the last times I did a check-in), but there is always room for improvement as the holidays come up.
We’ll Do A Final Check-in in December
In between finishing my last four books required for 2024 and keeping up with my community, I’ll have to see what I can do to work on my health. I’ll check in again in December and see how I did!
