It’s the end of 2024, which means it’s time for an End Of Year (EOY) wrap-up series! This year has flown by so fast and I’m excited to take stock of what I’ve accomplished this year and what all has happened since January/February. This first installment in the 2024 EOY Series is the final update on my Project Pan for this year and if it’s been an overall success or if I didn’t quite reach my goals. Let’s take a look!

A Reminder Of My Project Pan Products

Final Project Pan Updates & Statuses

As a reminder — in case this is the first post you’re coming across — earlier this year I started a Project Pan of some of my lip makeup. Basically my goal was to use up as much of some older products as I could so I could not only get more enjoyment out of them, but also use them all the way up so they can be removed from my minimal collection. It’s all about focusing on what I already have instead of just buying all the lip makeup I see and want. I did a halfway check-in a few months ago but now it’s time to do a final look before we go into 2025. How’d we do?

Let’s kick this off with a HUGE yet sort-of-cheating success. My Lippie Stix in Cami is totally gone. Totally used up! Hooray! There is no more product that I can twist-up to the top and I cannot apply any more product that is trapped at the very top. The only reason why I call this a “cheating” success is because part of the lippie broke off and fell on the floor when I went to apply it one day, which of course helped with the whole Project Pan thing. I want to say about ½ inch broke off? But personally I still count it as a success because I worked hard to use up this product and that was a complete accident (it even left a small stain on my shirt that I had to wash off that day). But I’m going to call it — I used up Cami!

Verdict: Used Up/Hit Pan (Massive Success)

Now we have to get into more of the non-successes, because it’s important to get a realistic view of everything and to be honest. For both the Lux Liquid Lip in “Flynn” and the Lux Liquid Lip in  “Wonderboy”, these were low priority products in this project. My main focus was using the lippies that were already very low, which is part of why these were consistently overlooked throughout the months. Looking at the packaging of these, Flynn has about half of the product left and Wonderboy is about the same, maybe a little more product. I honestly can’t tell if these are still okay to use or if they should be considered expired and thrown out. That I will investigate on my own but for the purposes of this reporting, these lippies must be considered failures (or at least non-success).

Verdict: Failure

With the heard stuff out of the way, let’s get back to more good news! The Lux Gloss in “Eternal Flame” is also totally gone! Hooray! There is a small amount of product stuck to the interior sides of the packaging that is very hard to get out, but there is nothing left in the bottom. This is a product I really focused on using — I would use this all day in my office because I knew I could easily use it up and it’s super easy to wear both on makeup and non-makeup days. I am so excited to have used up this one as well and I’m calling it a success!

Verdict: Used Up/Hit Pan (Massive Success)

On a similar positive note, I last-minute added the Lux Lip Oil in“Fresh Peach” when I first chose which products would be in this Project Pan. During my initial try-on I discovered I loved the concept of lip oil and figured this would also be a good one to add into the mix since I suspected I’d be using it a lot. Turns out, I was right! This lippie lived right next to my desk waterbottle, along with “Eternal Flame,” and I consistently used it throughout the weeks and even stashed it in my purse once or twice to use on the go. I have owned this product for six months and there is less than half left. It’s not totally used up, but I have made a huge dent and I am so excited to call this a success since, again, my goal was to use these products more and finish them if I could. This I still count as a success!

Verdict: Hit Pan (Massive Success)

Would I Repurchase Any Panned Projects?

Now that I have made a dent in or have totally used up about half of these lippies, now comes the question: would I repurchase any of them? This is a hard question to answer because I’ve always been interested in new lip products in different colors so I don’t know if I would call a certain product my “go to.” I am game to try new and different lip oils (I even compared the ColourPop one to the Sigma Beauty one) but for the sake of the question, I would probably repurchase the Lux Lip Oil if I needed to or had to. And again, I say that because there are so many different variations out there that I haven’t tried and so I don’t know what my favorites are. The Lux Lip Oil is a great product, as is the Sigma version, and I quite enjoy it.

Verdict: Yes/Maybe

The Lux Gloss I don’t think is even offered by ColourPop anymore — I believe it’s been discontinued — as I cannot find this line of lippies anywhere on the site. I can’t physically repurchase them, but if I could I don’t think I would. I’m not a huge fan of how this felt on my lips day after day and I think I would go for a lip oil or other products instead. The Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Plumping Line Smoothing Gloss I’m interested in trying to get a look at how other glosses feel, but the Lux Gloss I would not buy again if given the chance.

Verdict: No

The Lippie Stix I think I would buy again, though! I like how small and easily-transportable they are, I like the look and feel of them on the lips, and I think Cami was a good neutral cool mauve shade to use. I would buy this color again, but I would also totally try other shades. I don’t know if I will, or when, but right now I can confidently call this a repurchaseable item.

Verdict: Yes

Lawless Pressed Powder Update: The Accidental Pan

I feel like I have to include this one in here! Earlier this year I accidentally panned my Lawless Perfecting Powder Talc-Free, Skin-Smoothing Powder in the shade 2-Light. I didn’t plan on panning this, I didn’t even notice I was using it so much, I just looked one day and saw a tiny bit of metal in the packaging and got super excited.

At the time in early August, the shiny metal pan was smaller than a penny and it had taken me eight months to get there. Now, the metal circle is about the width of two quarters and it has now been over a year. I don’t need to buy a new one yet since there is still a significant amount of product on the exterior of that panned-circle, but I do want to recognize this product as another success. Hooray!

Project Pan: Lip Edition Wrap-Up — Success or Failure?

I didn’t do as well on this experiment as I wanted to or had envisioned. However, looking back I did reach my goal (partially) of using up some lip makeup and doing what I could to get it out of my collection. I panned two out of five products and significantly used up one of five. That’s ⅗ total or 60% success (I’m not including the Lawless powder since that wasn’t originally added to the project).

I am ultimately going to call my first Project Pan: Lip Edition a partial success! I accomplished part of the goal I wanted to and I’m really happy with the progress I made! Sure, I didn’t use up all of the product I wanted — and there were certainly some of them I preferred and gravitated toward over others — but I did use up a few of them and can throw the empty packages away. I don’t know if I will introduce a 2025 Project Pan but I am overall pleased with how this first try went! I’m proud of myself and this was super fun to do!
