Good afternoon blog-o-sphere! How are you?
God. . .this past weekend has been amazing. . .and to be honest it’s all a blur. It’s a wonderful blur of happiness and comfort and relaxation and — oh my god I cannot possibly encapsulate all of it into words.
But I can try.
So a I mentioned last time, my good friend of college “”Weekend Friend”) came to visit me over the weekend. I went shopping on Thursday to get all the ingredients for various meals (risotto with scallops, fondue with apples and bread, fried rice, chocolate mousse and shrimp scampi) and even bought some sour cream and mixed it up with a BLT savory dip mix. I let it sit in the fridge so all the flavors would be all yummy and mixed!
Let’s see. . .so he flew in on Friday afternoon. I got off work early so I spent a few hours deep-cleaning my apartment and running my sheets, towels and shower curtains through the wash. When I got to the airport he hadn’t gotten off the flight yet, so I was able to watch him get off the flight — and I hugged him so hard! 🙂
Anyway the weekend was a flurry — we watched Netflix (The Twilight Zone and American Horror Story Season 2); we had mimosas in the morning along with cooking bacon and eggs together; we had a picnic in Cody Park after stopping at Walmart on Saturday when it was about 70 degrees (including a nice walk around the park); we cooked more food together; we ordered pizza and I introduced him to proper cocktail hour while eating a dill cream cheese plate and the savory dip with Ruffles; he sweetly pointed out how I have gold flakes in my blue eyes. . .god it was. . .it was amazing.
Weekends with him are always the best, and I love them to death. If I could encapsulate those weekends and bottle them up I’d take a swig every single day.
Oh — and he missed his flight again. . . .I screwed some things up, and the airport was closed, and I was at work when the the flight left and. . .basically it was a mess. I’m now convinced this poor guy is cursed — every time he comes to visit Nebraska he will be doomed to not leave on time. But it all worked out, he didn’t miss work, and we got more time together.
But that’s it — that’s all that’s happened. And that’s honestly all I care to say. I just posted another Netflix n’ Swill episode and work is going well, but yeah. That weekend, tho. I love this boy.
