Welcome to spooky month! We are officially in October, which means it’s time to immerse ourselves in everything dark, scary, spooky, and mysterious. This also means we are entering the last quarter of 2025 before we get to the holidays and get ready to do the whole thing over again! One of my main year-long goals for 2025 is to read 24 books before December 31st at 11:59 p.m., doubling the goal I set (and completed!) in 2024. However, as of the writing of this blog post, I’m 13/24 — so I’ve got some catching up to do.

Introducing: The October Reading Challenge
For this month only I’m forgoing the 180-degree switching from romance to thriller books and am sticking solely with spooky. From the 1st to 31st (Halloween), I want to see how many thrillers and horror books from my TBR list I can get through to both reach my yearly goal and to finally get these books off the list. Instead of more in-depth reviews of each book, I’m planning to provide brief weekly updates and rankings so you can keep up with how my quest is going and if I find any five stars.
Tentative Posting Schedule: Oct 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, 31st
The books I have in my lineup so far include:
- Penpal by Dathan Auerbach
- When The Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy
- From Below by Darcy Coates
- Among the Living by Tim Lebbon
- Thin Air: A Ghost Story by Michelle Paver
More books from the TBR List will be added if needed! But until then — stay tuned for our first update!
