Final Update & Rankings:

Happy Halloween everyone! It’s the end of October (beginning of November) and the end of the Spooky October Reading Challenge! I have to say, I overshot my reading time and abilities a little bit, but hey, why not shoot for the moon a little? In total I read four spooky books from October 1st-31st, which is probably the highest number of books I’ve ever read in a month. It doesn’t seem like a huge accomplishment considering Bookstagrammers and Booktokers can read easily double that in a month, but who cares?

My final rankings for what I did read this month are:

WTWCH, my last book for this challenge, turned out to be a winner (just like Rest Stop) and I enjoyed its pacing, storyline, and commentary on fear. While not as creepy or unsettling as Penpal, both deserve their spots on the list. Among The Living was a very high four, not quite enough to be a five, and while I did enjoy From Below just fine it compared to the others on this list wasn’t as spooky and didn’t pack as big of a punch.

I’m still calling this October Reading Challenge a success! I’m kicking around the idea of doing something like this again for the final two months of the year — I am six books behind my 2025 goal and have a lot of non-thrillers to get though that would be perfect for the holiday season. I’ll keep you posted, but until then, thank you for joining me!
