Good morning everyone! 🙂 How are you?
Once again, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Well, I told ya — I told ya this next post was going to be a little late! But that’s okay, what’s important is that I get to prattle on and on about my life to fives, even tens, of people on the Internet!
But anyway, what have I been up to as we all collectively continue throughout the holiday season?

Well first some more cooking! I made avocado toast the morning of December 8th with sliced radishes, salt, pepper, a touch of Siracha and a nice side of bacon; this was followed by another round of kale chips seasoned with an absurd (but yummy) amount of cumin and a batch of oven-made sundried tomatoes that were eaten up wayyyyy faster than it took to make them.
Now on one day I also made something new: avocado rice with shrimp! Basically it’s cooked normal rice mixed with avocado and some lime juice, and then I just has the shrimp to cook up. It was very good and I kept some in the freezer to eat later! This was followed by a batch of Walmart Funfetti cookies while watching “White Christmas” on Netflix — because I was in a baking mood and I love that film around the holidays — and then a large batch of cheddar mac and cheese with a sprinkle of chili powder and a breadcrumb crust!
I also havent made these yet, but I wanna try to make Crab Ragoons sometime — been craving those recently.

Now as far as major news events — there was a fire!
. . . well, that’s technically accurate. There was a teeny fire. So on Tuesday, December 10th I get out of the morning show and I’m told there’s a fire on the north side of town, right? So ya know, spot-news, kind of stressful, I’m running around like a madwoman getting the camera equipment and my coat and gloves and all. I do my best to scrap off the car windshield without losing too much time — because everything frosts, ya know? — and I make my way over, hands and feet totally freezing.
Now, the fire was out by the time I got there, but I got footage of the wreckage, quotes from the fire marshal, from the homeowner and all; basically what happened was a woman came home after dropping her child off at school, and the truck was parked in the driveway. Well next thing she knows the neighbors are pounding at her door, calling the fire department, because the car port just spontaneously caught fire. But it was a small thing, nobody was hurt, fairly minimal damage and all, but the homeowner was understandably shaken up by it. I do admit it feels a bit strange to be asking for quotes right when someone feels like that but hey — that’s the job.
Anyway so I finish up — my hands basically frozen at this point because I can’t work the camera buttons with gloves on — and I get the information down for the midday show. The story’s here if you want to check it out.

After that, well last Thursday evening myself and some colleagues participated in the town’s downtown Christmas parade! That was pretty cute; got all bundled up (though the temperature was at least in the 50s when it was apparently below freezing last year) and wore a Santa Hat and handed out candy to kids. That Friday I took off work to head home for my family’s annual Christmas party; that’s always fun every year. I drove the 4 hours down there, saw the family, saw my friend, ate some good food, ate some good cookies, brought a tub of cookies home for my parents, wore my new Christmas sweater and earrings, did a live video on my professional Facebook page about my father’s Christmas lights. . .and actually missed a whole unpleasant heap of winter weather that blew through Nebraska! Like literally, by the time I drove back on Sunday, roads were fine and it stopped snowing and all. I dont think I could possible encapsulate it all into words since it was so amazing, but that’s a fair summary 🙂 I also sent my friend a present for her graduation via ye ‘ole Confetti Post.

Now, Weekend Friend is actually visiting right now! He got in on Sunday and we put up the little Christmas tree and decorated it and put the gifts under it – – after I got off work and thoroughly cleaned my apartment, of course. Now we’re just doing our thing until he leave next week. Now work is interesting this week because my normal in-studio meteorologist is on vacation, so I get to work with another meteorologist and nobody insults my film opinions lol. We — and by “we” I mean the morning crew — shot holiday promos the other day; those will come out hopefully soon and are just us dressing in holiday gear and being all silly and saying “Happy Holidays from KNOP” and all. Should be really cute.

But that’s all for now 🙂 We’ll talk to y’all later.
