#1: Caleb Hammer

Genre: Financial/Drama/Advice

Synopsis: A relatively new addition to my YouTube subscriptions, Caleb Hammer is the host of Financial Audit. This interview-style video series is all about helping guests better understand their financial situation, prioritize methods to pay off debt, and cut down on unnecessary spending. Useful with a hint of spiciness and drama from guests not being smart with their money. Highly recommend this for anyone who needs to stop spending money on silly things or is living in debt.

I personally recommend the popular videos list to get started.

#3: B. Dylan Hollis

Genre: Comedy/Cooking/Baking

Synopsis: You likely know B. Dylan Hollis from TikTok. But as a non-TikTok user, I discovered this guy on YouTube. A cooking and baking enthusiast tests and reviews recipes from the 1900’s to present day, from the wonderfully delicious to the strange and disgusting. I cannot imagine the collection of old recipes and cookbooks this man has. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quick giggle or baking inspiration.

#4: Crime Weekly

Genre: True Crime/Investigative/Deep Dives

Synopsis: Crime Weekly is, as the name suggests, a weekly podcast featuring two YouTube creators: Stephanie Harlowe (a True Crime creator in her own right) and Derrick Lavasseur (a retired police detective, licensed PI, and recent creator of his own YouTube channel covering cold cases). Known for their multi-part deep dives into specific cases, this is the ideal podcast for getting different perspectives on the same subject matter. Great to listen to during work. Highly recommend checking out their individual channels as well.

#5: Quinton Reviews

Genre: Video Essayist/Commentary

Synopsis: Quinton is perhaps best known for this recent multi-year-long deep dive into the NCU (the Nickelodeon Cinematic Universe), starting with the kid’s sit-com iCarly and ending (at the time of writing) with sit-com Sam & Cat. If you’re ready to look at nostalgic media in a new way, then there are over 40 hours of long-form comedic, well-thought-out video essays to pass the time. Highly recommend it if you grew up with the NSU, are into long-form content, and are just ready to have a good time.

#6: The Financial Diet

Genre: Financial/Advice/Video Essays

Synopsis: The Financial Diet is what I call a sophisticated look at money and finances. This woman-run YouTube channel, combined with the corresponding podcast The Financial Confessions, is where you can find video essays on the culture of money and wealth and how it impacts different areas of society. You’ll find interviews with guests related to money and lifestyle and even advice on how to better manage your own outlook on money. This is the media to consume if you’re looking for thought-provoking discussions, commentary, and advice related to the world around us.

#7: MrBallen

Genre: Thriller/Horror/Scary Storytelling

Synopsis: Being a regular weather and subscriber since April 2021 or so, MrBallen is a storytelling channel where the namesake narrator (Mr. Ballen) performs dramatic retellings of the “strange, dark, and mysterious.” You’ll find episodes on True Crime cases, disappearances, strange unexplained happenings, creepy stories, and basically anything that makes you want to gather around a campfire. Perfect if you’re a True Crime fan and wanting to expand your subscriptions, or if you’re just into spooky content.

#8: Samantha March

Genre: Beauty/Lifestyle/Travel

Synopsis: Samantha March is the perfect combination of all three categories: beauty, lifestyle, and travel. A Vegas-based content creator and self-published author, her channel is focused on showing her daily life and efforts to build healthy habits. You’ll find makeup product reviews, the occasional vlog, recommendations for what to do in Las Vegas, travel-related content, and community-related content. Recommend if you’re looking for the internet equivalent of a girlfriend to catch up with, general recommendations, or someone inspiring to help motivate you to achieve your goals.

#9: Babish Culinary Universe

Genre: Comedy/Cooking

Synopsis: Known for the flagship show Binging With Babish, the BCU was created by cooking enthusiast Andrew Rea (a.k.a Babish) and started with his adventure of recreating famous foods from different movies and T.V. shows. From here the channel has grown to include a variety of cooking shows all relating to media in some way and absolutely chock-full of shenanigans. Totally recommend watching this one if you need a midday pick-me-up, cooking inspiration, or need a breath of fresh air amid your YouTube journey.
