Good afternoon everyone! How are you?
I’m well. A lot of things have been going on at work recently. Which I will now tell you about.

The major thing. . . my boss is leaving. Our News Director in NP will be leaving on Wednesday for a GM job at Gray-affiliate station in Mississippi. She starts June 1st.
I’m honestly feeling a lot of different ways about this. I’m a little sad — she is the one who gave me my first job, hired me right out of college, helped me get to know the industry — but I’m also really uncertain about the future. I do have a contract with Gray, but what do I want to do with my life? Do I stay here at this job and renew my apartment lease? Or do I look for another job, transfer to another Gray station.

I’m lost as far as what I really want to have as a career. We actually have no idea who our new News Director is or when he/she will be coming in. Now that part in itself isn’t worrisome — everyone knows what to do, we don’t actually need to be “supervised.” But who will this new boss be? Maybe I should see how it goes before I consider leaving my current job.

I know I just really need to be aware of my future and to keep thinking about it. At least two of our MMjs are actually leaving in June when their contracts expire. Naturally I love working there and I adore who I work with, bit it’s like college — you stay in touch with your friends as you move throughout life. But basically some really big things are happening at the station right now. We got the news over an online meeting (of course) and it honestly hit me like a ton of bricks. I love my boss, she’s great and I’m going to miss her, and this all got me really thinking about my own future and where I’m going.

But let’s talk about some other things for a second. The company actually bought everyone donuts (who wanted them) as a thank you for working really hard through this major historical event. So, I opted to get some, and I turned them into bread pudding! They were actually filled with creme so I had to scrape that out, and scrape off the top frosting. But the bread pudding came out so yummy!

Next is a new recipe a tried — Ramen Carbonara. You can make it with regular spaghetti but it called for ramen noodles. Not the seasoning packet, just the noodles. But anyway, this is cooked pasta tossed in a sauce make of parmasan cheese and egg, topped with pancetta (or thick-cut bacon in my case).
Guys. . . .it was AMAZING! OH MY GOD, this is one of the greatest things I have cooked in a long time. It’s so good; I even topped it with sauteed mushrooms. Oh my god, I love it and I would eat it every day if I had to. 10/10 would make for WF.

I also made myself a little Breakfast Skillet! That, and Chicken Paramasan.

My family sent me cookies! We have these cookies we always make at Christmas, Peanut Butter Blossoms. They’re peanut butter cookies with a chocolate kiss in the center and we only ever make them at Christmas. But they must’ve gotten bored and made some, and they sent me a container full! Super sweet.

And speaking of cookies, I made some Chocolate Chip Cookies for my boss as a goodbye gift.

I finally hung up the painting I bought from a friend of mine! My command hooks arrived the other day.

Oh! Going back to work — this past week, on Tuesday, our teleprompter went out for a whole B block. That’s intro, weather, two packages, and the tease with Question of the Day. We were having problems with the teleprompter so it was out for the entire block. It went over fairly well, but still was quite an adventure that doesn’t happen very often.

But the last bit of news is this next weekend I have my Memorial Day holiday, and I shall be (very cautiously) returning to see my fam. I haven’t seen them in a really long time, and Governor Ricketts just said people can leave the state and return without quarantining. I also have some really yummy recipes to try this time around (I got Walmart Pickup Groceries today), including Ramen and a Vegetarian Sushi Bowl.

But that’s the latest. This coming week we all say goodbye to our boss, and I have a four-day week before I head home for a long weekend. Tonight I’m making myself sliders and tomorrow i made Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits for my coworker. I meant to do that months ago but I finally got hands on a box. I’ve also thought about starting a YouTube channel — cooking related. I dunno.

A lot’s going on right now. . .and now I think I’ll stop typing.
