Good afternoon Internet! How are you?

So it’s been a little over a week since I talked to you last, so I figured I should let you know what’s been going on. I said hey — what’s going on? Love that He Man video.

Anyway, so I told you I made care packages? Well I did! I made care packages for WF and his family — I sent them Great Gatsby Tea Cakes and brownies with cookie crumbles in them. Butt I also made chocolate chip cookies that don’t require flour — first I kept running out of butter, and then I ran out of flour. Basically you swap out the flour for peanut butter, so it’s like a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. I love them, and I sent them in a care package to my family back home.
I also included a little note that says “Please mail me back my tupperware, I have a limited supply,” so hopefully I will get that container back lol.

So I sent that off, and then it was Tuesday. Now Tuesday is #TaskoutTuesday, which as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before is a day where everyone tries to support local restaurants and businesses by eating takeout food. Now given the whole “staying at home” thing, I decided to combine Netflix ‘n Swill and #TakeoutTuesday by going to one of the oriental restaurants in town. I’ve eaten there before, but I wanted to try some new items, so I had their crab cheese wontons, their Crunchy Scallop Roll and their North Platte Roll. All of which were delicious and I enjoyed thoroughly.

I also checked out the first episode of “Brooklyn 99,” which I’ve been told is an amazing show. I watched it. I loved it. And now as of 12:12 p.m. on 4/30/20, I am on Season 2, Episode 10. This is the same energy of “Parks & Rec” but in a different location and I love it. Plus it’s better than “The Office,” and I will not budge on that. That is fact. It took Jim two seasons to confess his undying love for Pam — it took Jake one season. From that alone, “Brooklyn 99” is better.

But anyway, last #TakeoutTuesday was yummy, and this past week I ate a new dish from The Good Life on the Bricks, another popular burger/BBQ place in town. Now, I’ve only had one of their burgers before, and this time I tried their Mother of Dragons burger (books were better, fight me irl) and their mac and cheese. And Oh. My. God. I swear, eating this burger was a  religious experience for me. It was so good, I swear I savored every single bite.

Now, moving back in order, last Thursday (4/22) I’m in the last block of my show when my boss comes in and mouths to me something on the police scanner. I roll my eyes internally, knowing that my morning is about to get a hell of a lot longer. And it did.
After I’m done with the show, I immediately have to go to a rollover accident, with barely enough time to even take a breath. I mean, I left my phone at my desk. Luckily I knew where I was going. But yes, it was a rollover accident seen here. Basically the unevenness of the dirt, farm roads contributed to the accident of this poor man who was on his way to work. I was honestly pretty lucky he agreed to let me interview him — considering what he’d just went through, like, ten minute earlier — but he did. He did he best (he didn’t speak English fluently) but in stories like that, just the fact that he would talk to a reporter is the major selling point, you know?

In fact, after work that day, one of the neighbors recognized me! I’m not kidding, someone who lives in one of my nearby buildings saw me getting out of my car and was like “Good Morning Erika!” and I said “Good Morning!” back and it was so cool. I’m totally famous.

Now, to address the rather large elephant in the room, Nebraska’s governor has launched this new movement called Test Nebraska, which is basically having everyone in the state take an online assessment to increase COVID-19 testing rates. Now how does this plan to work? I’m not sure. I think once testing is more widespread (as in, able to test all persons, but just those at high-risk and after consulting with healthcare providers) then they have our information as far as risk factors. But who knows.

Let’s see. . .I also bought some more items off of Amazon. I just bought some Mike’s Hot Honey the other day and some electric toothbrush toppers, but I also got a new medium skillet; a new apron for when I cook/bake; and my very own white noise machine to sleep with. Usually I sleep with the fan on and it doesn’t work as well (plus the temperature changes), but now I use the white noise machine. Also some more dip mixes from a Colorado business I like.

That brings us to today. I had to work overtime again today. A car crash happened overnight, so I called various sheriff agencies to figure out what happened. Now this morning I was already feeling kind of down because my sinuses and throat are a bit dry (not sure why, but I bought some Claritin and am keeping hydrated and such) and I really wanted to go home. But alas, between calling places, writing a cohesive story, putting that story online and posting it on social media, I got like 90 minutes of overtime pay.
Now what happened during this car crash? Basically a deputy’s car was hit by a driver who didn’t follow Nebraska’s “Move Over” law. No deaths, though.

Now, I did more cooking this past week, too. Lots more cooking.

~ I made more Cinnamon Bread.

~ Leftover Honey Garlic Chicken with roasted potatoes.

~ Chocolate Chip Blondies (while wearing my apron, of course)

~ Hawaiian Shrimp with Sauteed Mushrooms (YUM!).
